Co-Curricular Opportunities

There are a variety of co-curricular activities on offer for students at St Thomas Aquinas. All students are encouraged to participate in some of the co-curricular programs available. These programs develop students’ confidence, talents and sense of responsibility.

Some of the opportunities available at St Thomas Aquinas include:

  • STEM – Robotics and Coding
  • Sport:
    • Diocesan Sports Gala Days in soccer, cricket, netball, basketball, AFL and rugby league
    • Opportunities to represent at Diocesan, MacKillop and State levels in a range of sports, including swimming, athletics and cross country
    • Opportunities to trial for the MacKillop sports teams for: tennis, basketball, rugby union, rugby league, soccer, netball, touch football, hockey
    • Through sporting schools grants, students are also given the opportunity to take part in various sporting programs – including gymnastics, basketball, hockey, dance.
  • Art Competitions:
  • Garden Club – students maintain the school gardens with the idea from the paddock to the plate. Learn more here about our school's engagement with environmental education, action, stewardship and sustainability
  • G'Day (Grandparents and/or Great People Day) 
  • Book Week celebrations – including Book Parades, author/illustrator visits to the school, live performances 
  • Performances – including our Christmas Concert and End of Year Concert
  • Beach and Surf Awareness programs
  • Public Speaking
  • International Competitions and Assessments (ICAS)
  • SPLICED (Diocese of Wollongong Gifted and Talented Program)
  • Liturgy Group
  • Altar Serving

  • Excursions – as part of the academic curriculum, students attend various excursions to link in with their curriculum units, including:
    • Canberra (Parliament, War Memorial, etc)
    • Mary MacKillop Centre
    • Hyde Park Barracks
    • Minnamurra Rainforest
  • Camp – all students in Year 6 attend a 3 day / 2 night camp at Narrabeen
  • Community involvement through visits to Harbison Nursing Home and St Vincent De Paul Winter and Christmas Appeals
  • Opportunities to organise and participate in social justice initiatives, raising funds and awareness for a range of causes – including Market Day and Mufti Days
